Lawrenceburg senior offensive lineman Ashton Craig has been named one of nine finalists for Indiana Mr. Football by the Indiana Football Coaches Association.

The coaches association announced one finalist from each position group along with its overall all-state teams on Monday. Craig was the nominee representing all offensive linemen in the state.

Coaches around the state now can vote for Mr. Football at least through the end of this week.

Dearborn County has one previous Mr. Football honoree: East Central running back Josh Martini in 1994.

Craig, a 6-foot-5-inch, 285-pound Notre Dame commit is one of the top offensive line prospects in the Midwest and helped Lawrenceburg to an 11-2 record and sectional title. The Tigers nearly knocked off eventual state champion Gibson Southern in the regional, falling 31-29 on a last-second field goal. Craig was a big part of an offense that averaged 407 yards per game.

Gibson Southern quarterback Brady Allen, a Purdue commit, is the nominee from that position. He threw for 4,253 yards and 58 touchdowns this season and set a new state record with 149 career TD passes.

The rest of the nominees are here.

The IFCA awards two lists of all-state honors for each class, one for seniors and another for juniors.
