The entry deadline for Dress the Turkey submission has passed. So, if you're still holding onto a masterpiece that you spent a bazillion hours on, better luck next year. Frame it and sell that bird on eBay for gobbles of money!
Last year was 2020. Last year was a hard year. Last year, was a dumpster fire, quite literally.
And if you've followed along with the Dress the Turkey competition through its now 33 years, you know that these birds can really be a reflection of the times we live in. There are always political candidate turkeys, happy or sad Bengals and Reds turkeys, (blank) Man turkeys from the latest Marvel movie. Et cetera. Et cetera.
So, going with the times, the 2020 winning bird was the Dumpster Fire Turkey. A turkey, in a dumpster, on fire. (Extra crispy or original recipe?) One more round of applause for last year's winner, Craig Kohls.
(Pause for applause break.)
Now! It's 2021. A whole new year of stacks on stacks on stacks of (digitally submitted) fully dressed turkey birds. We have Brent Spence constructions birds, still-quarantined birds, FIFA World Cup hopeful birds, Ted Lasso birds and birds riding high on the Cincinnati Bearcats football team.
And we can't wait to share them with you.
Our panel of judges is hard at work tallying votes for this year's winners, which will be revealed on Thanksgiving Day online at Cincinnati.com and in The Enquirer print edition.
Also at Cincinnati.com, we'll be revealing all of our finalists throughout Thanksgiving week.
- Monday: Ages 12 and under.
- Tuesday: Ages 13-20.
- Wednesday: Ages 21 and up.
- Thursday: Winners and runners-up revealed.
We'll have a special holiday section in The Enquirer on Thanksgiving Day, too, where we'll share more than just the winners, but handfuls of our favorite and wackiest submissions.
We hope you have as much fun with these gobblers as we do year in and year out.
While we wait ... here's a gallery of the 2020 turkey finalists, by age group:
