Incoming Cincinnati mayor set to reveal transition team

Aftab Pureval

Incoming mayor Aftab Pureval doesn't take office until Jan. 1, but he's already looking ahead to what his administration will look like.

Pureval is hosting a 9:30 a.m. press conference Monday at the Contemporary Arts Center, 44 E. 6th St, where he's expected to announce a transition team.

The Clifton resident swept into office with 66 percent of the vote earlier this month, trouncing fellow Democrat David Mann.

Mayor John Cranley did not have a transition team, but he also came to the job after having been a council member for nine years. Pureval is the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts. In addition, the period between the election and the swearing-in is now a month longer than when Cranley first took office.

As mayor, Pureval will select the city's vice mayor, president pro tempore and council committee chairpersons, but those announcements aren't expected yet.

Pureval met with Mayor John Cranley the day after he was elected to talk about the transition. Cranley tweeted that it was "the first of many meetings to come" and that he would help as much as he could with the transition.

The Enquirer will update this story
