The Cincinnati Bearcats' 28-20 Homecoming win Saturday against Tulsa at Nippert Stadium likely didn't impress the style-point police or College Football Playoff selection committee. And to make matters worse, there was added concern about running back Jerome Ford, UC's leading rusher this season who left during the second quarter with a leg injury.
UC got out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter behind rushing touchdowns from quarterback Desmond Ridder and Ford, but allowed the Golden Hurricane to score 12 unanswered points in the second quarter.
With ESPN's "College GameDay" in town, it was the same halftime lead for UC - 14-12 - that the Bearcats had a week earlier during their 31-12 win at Tulane. Two weeks earlier, UC led just 13-10 at the half at Navy.
The Bearcats outscored Tulsa 14-0 in the third quarter, but UC was held scoreless in the fourth quarter and needed a goal-line stand to remain undefeated.
