Perfect North gets snowmaking equipment running for upcoming season

As temperatures dipped below freezing Wednesday, Perfect North Slopes began preparing for the upcoming snow skiing, snowboarding and tubing season.

The ski resort in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, posted on social media Wednesday that the snowmaking team began testing its system for the winter ahead.

"While these snowguns will just make a light dusting of snow today, it is very exciting!" the post reads.

Perfect North typically opens for the season as soon as there is enough snow to cover "most of the trails," or around mid-December, according to its website. Opening and closing dates vary, depending on the weather, and Perfect North usually closes around early March.

On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service in Wilmington posted temperatures around the region dropped well below freezing overnight, resulting in a hard freeze.
