MASON, Ohio — A fatal crash shut down southbound I-71 in Mason Monday afternoon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. One lane is currently getting by.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. near the Western Row Road exit. It was fully shut down for almost an hour. Cars are getting by in the right lane of the highway as the crash cleanup and investigation continues.
The crash caused a massive traffic back up.
We have not confirmed the cause of the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still on scene.
Southbound drivers can exit the highway at Kings Mills and head south on Kings Island Drive, re-entering the highway at Western Row Road to avoid the bottleneck.
