CBS color analyst Trent Green was impressed with the 26-yard catch in the second quarter by Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins from quarterback Joe Burrow on 3rd and 6 from the New York Jets' 28-yard line that set up Burrow's 2-yard touchdown toss to rookie Ja'Marr Chase two plays later, remarking during the broadcast that it was "as good of a catch as you'll see anywhere in the NFL."
But Green then suggested that Jets head coach Robert Saleh should have challenged the ruling on the field of a reception, insisting that the ball touched the ground on Higgins' catch.
"Robert Saleh was all the way down to the 17-yard line, and you can tell he was deciding whether or not he was gonna throw that challenge flag. See how the ball comes loose and he lands on top of the ball," Green said. "See how the ball bounces on the ground?"
"Exactly. Good catch by you on the no-catch by Higgins," play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan told Green.
Social media reactions to Higgins' catch:
Chase's score that followed Higgins' catch gave the Bengals a 14-7 lead. The Bengals led 17-14 at the half.
