Five things to know about the new Mercy Health hospital in Mason

Mercy Health and local officials are scheduled to break ground Friday near the Kings Island amusement park for a 60-bed hospital in another sign that the novel coronavirus pandemic did not slow medical construction across the Cincinnati region.

Here are five things to know about the new facility:

What will it be called?

Mercy Health-Cincinnati unveiled plans for the $200 million hospital in January. This week, hospital system spokeswoman Nanette Bentley said the name for the new institution will be unveiled at Friday’s groundbreaking.

The hospital will go up at the southeast corner of Kings Island Drive and Kings Mills Road. It’s about a mile north of the Kings Island amusement park. It’s set to open in late 2023. The project architect is GBBN, and the construction firm is Danis.
