At least seven different departments responded Saturday to a report of an ammonia leak at Tyson Foods in West Chester. West Chester's fire chief said the leak was at least 13,000 pounds of ammonia.It's stored as a liquid, but leaked as a vapor. Crews were able to find the valve that was loose or broken and shut off the leak.Officials say the vapor was contained to the building and there was no danger to anyone in the area.Tyson Foods reached out to WLWT and released a statement regarding the matter."We’re investigating an ammonia release Saturday night at our Cincinnati, OH, facility. The safety of our team members is always our top priority, so we immediately evacuated the plant and there were no injuries. We expect to resume operations soon. We’re grateful for the swift response and assistance of local emergency personnel."
