Sure, there's always people who compete in costume, but dressing up for Halloween might provide a little extra incentive to finish the 13.1 or 26.2 miles.

• A Forrest Gump costume can come in many forms, but his cross-country run fits for a marathon, complete with red shorts, T-shirt, hat and long hair and beard.
• "Squid Game" is Netflix's smash hit of the moment. With most of the characters donning green tracksuits, this is the perfect costume to both play deadly children's games or to race in. Google has also listed dressing as "Squid Game" in the top 25 trending costumes this Halloween.

• Characters in the Japanese anime series Naruto are known for their "Naruto run," or ninja run, where they run leaning forward with their arms outstretched behind their backs. The running style has since become a meme, and hey, it might help improve your marathon or half marathon time.
• Will Halloween be a bones day? Noodle the 13-year-old pug has been capturing hearts and imaginations on TikTok, where his owner determines every day if he has "bones" (can stand) or "no bones" (flops over.) Bones days typically mean a day of productivity and success, so dressing up as Noodle with bones may be a positive outcome for your race.
• Grab a leotard, sweatband, tights and leg warmers to keep cozy and fit while running as an '80s workout costume. With all that neon, you'll easily be visible on the course to other runners and spectators.
• If you'd rather stay more inconspicuous (or want people actively searching for you in a large crowd), dressing as Where's Waldo? could help you both stand out and blend in. Plus, the red-striped hat will keep your head warm.
• If you're not running the marathon or half-marathon for a personal record, you could always dress up for what's coming post-race: A beer run. Bonus points if you drink local Cincinnati beer.
Cincinnati-inspired Halloween costumes
Embrace the Flying Pig and Queen Bee theme literally by dressing as either, well, a flying pig or queen bee. Put on some wings, grab a tiara and you'll instantly be both recognizable and on theme.
What better way to represent the Queen City while running than by wearing a Gold Star Chili or Skyline Chili costume? Get creative and dress up as your favorite Coney or 3-Way this year to leave the other racers hungry and hopefully, in the dust.
Keeping with the local food theme, you can also dress up as a scoop or pint of your favorite Graeter's ice cream, though the bulky shape may be a little difficult to run in.
Show your support to one of Cincinnati's local professional teams, the Reds, Bengals and FC Cincinnati. Bonus points if you can carry a baseball, football or soccer ball the entire race.
While White Castle isn't based in Cincinnati (instead the headquarters call Columbus home), the fast food chain has partnered with Spirit Halloween to offer the iconic White Castle Slider Costume and the Chicken Rings Costume online.
