Check your speed dial
Local calls will require additional digits this week.
Starting Sunday, callers will need to dial the area code plus the seven-digit phone number for calls within Cincinnati's 513 area code and Northern Kentucky's 859 area code.
The move will make way for a new, three-digit phone number for the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Lifeline, which launches next year. That number is currently 1-800-273-TALK.
If you don't want to wait, you can make the change now. And be sure to check other equipment, including security systems, medical monitoring devices and fax machines that require phone lines to operate. They'll be affected, too.
Election countdown
With just weeks to go until Election Day, we have a lot of coverage coming your way this week. Here's what's on tap:
• In-depth profiles of Cincinnati mayoral candidates Aftab Pureval and David Mann.
• A look at key suburban races you should be paying attention to.
• An Issue 3 Q&A, answering your questions about the wide-ranging charter amendment.
You'll find all this coverage as it posts on our Politics page, as well as in our Local Politics newsletter.
Meet the candidates
The Enquirer will host a meet-the-candidates night for Cincinnati voters on Wednesday at Somerset OTR.
This is a chance to meet some of your Cincinnati city and school board candidates in person as well as the journalists who cover local politics and government.

Fall events are here
It's somehow the middle of October again, which means pumpkin patches and haunted houses are in full swing.
Our list of fall events has something for everyone, whether you prefer sipping apple cider while wandering through a corn maze, or indulging your dark side at a terrifying haunted house.
Us? We just want to launch some pumpkins.
