
For college students, there is nothing quite like celebrating a big win.That's what they did up and down Short Vine in Corryville Saturday in the heady aftermath of University of Cincinnati's win over Notre Dame.The outcome should vault the Bearcats higher in the rankings.It sent their fans into stratospheric overload, the celebration spilling onto the street at times with high five's and big hugs.Senior Seth Friedman was exuberant."Seeing our team go from zero to one-hundred, going to the Big 12, beating Notre Dame, it's insane," he concluded.2013 alumna Tiera Dobbins couldn't hold back her overflowing joy."We beat Notre Dame," she shouted with arms raised high. "Brian Kelly, we gotcha. Oh, I love it."The Bearcat fans could hardly contain their unbridled UC-ness on this day.A stone's throw from campus, Martino's played host to a watch party and we watched them watching.When asked what it is like to be a UC football fan right now, Sophomore Eden Marques said "Oh my gosh, it's so exciting."In the middle of all the madness along Short Vine, with the possibility of a playoff path still intact, one guy with a Fighting Irish insignia stood out and was gracious enough to explain himself."Well, I pay tuition here," chuckled Dave Duco of Mason. "So, my son and my family are in there cheering for the Bearcats."Duco grew up in Steubenville."I'm a Catholic from a steel town. So, we were born and bred. My dad would roll over in his grave if I wasn't cheerin', wearin' a Bearcat jersey over ND."It was a hothouse of Cat fever at Martino's Saturday afternoon.Students believe the feeling they're enjoying right now won't be going away anytime soon.Sophomore Cooper Tadman said, "You can tell how big it is here. I mean, this is an away game. We're all packed in here like a sellout. We're excited, especially for a big game like this."Students are in the moment.They hadn't had one quite like this.Their team is 4-0. The feeling is if they take care of conference business, serious playoff consideration must be given.They'll be helping to rock Nippert Stadium next Friday night when the Temple Owls come to the Clifton Campus where the football vibe is brimming with possibility.
