Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly didn't seem thrilled with his team's effort during the first half Saturday in South Bend against his former team, the Cincinnati Bearcats.
NBC aired part of Kelly's halftime speech during its broadcast, just before the start of the second half:
You're evaluated for every snap that you play in this second half wearing a Notre Dame jersey. And you're gonna play the right way, or you're not gonna play. Period. End of discussion - to our standards that we've set - with grit, attention to detail, smarts, laser focus, and with an incredible attitude. If you do that, heh, good things will happen. Let's go play.
@GoBearcatsFB sent Kelly a message after the game - a 24-13 win for UC - via Twitter:
Kelly was the Bearcats' head coach from 2006 to 2009. He's been Notre Dame's head coach since leaving UC.
The Bearcats took a 17-0 lead late in the first half on Desmond Ridder's second touchdown pass of the game.
