Ben Roethlisberger expected to face Bengals; T.J. Watt ruled out

Update: Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and former Miami University RedHawks standout Ben Roethlisberger was a full participant during the Steelers' practice Friday with a pectoral injury, and is expected to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Heinz Field.

Star linebacker T.J. Watt was listed as questionable on the Steelers' injury report Friday, but he has been downgraded to out.

Earlier: Roethlisberger was a limited participant during the Steelers' practice Thursday with a pectoral injury.

Watt also was limited Thursday with a groin injury.

Roethlisberger told reporters Wednesday he's going to do everything he can to play in his team's game Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Heinz Field despite an injury to his left pectoral muscle.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (7) throws in the first quarter during an NFL Week 15 football game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

He added that he's not sure how the muscle was injured during the first quarter last Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. He said the injury bothered him for most of the game, which Pittsburgh lost 26-17.

Roethlisberger, 24-8 all-time in the regular season against the Bengals, also told reporters that it hurts "when I reach for something outside the framework of my body or when I push up off the ground."
