Ohio dog owners have until Jan. 31 to purchase a dog license, which is required by state law for all dogs older than 3 months.
Licenses must be renewed each year, according to Ohio law. Owners can purchase dog tags through their county's auditor's office, at the links provided below:
Prices vary by county but are in general less than $20 for the year. The renewal period for 2021 began on Dec. 1, 2020.
Owners may be subject to a penalty fee if they purchase a license after Jan. 31. Those who get a dog later in the year will have 30 days to license their pet without penalty, according to the Warren County Auditor.
Dog tags are required by law and are helpful in case your pet goes missing. Deputies can search a loose dog's information to quickly get in touch with its owner.
