A letter circulating in Ohio about a nationwide shutdown, seemingly from the National Guard, is fake, officials say.
"PSA: If you see this letter, which is once again circulating on social media and in public, please be aware it IS FALSE AND FAKE," the Ohio National Guard posted on Twitter and Facebook Tuesday evening.
The Cincinnati Police Department shared the post Wednesday, stating "the uptick in posts containing false information has hit Ohio."
The illegitimate letter appears to be from the National Guard and says Homeland Security is preparing to mobilize the National Guard, military and first responders ahead of a nationwide, two-week quarantine. This is false, officials said.
"Consider showing your support for us by helping to combat these rumors- share this to your page," the Ohio National Guard posted.
