Kentucky Rep. John "Bam" Carney has died at the age of 51, following an long health battle.His family shared the news on Facebook, saying the Republican lawmaker passed away Saturday morning in Lexington.In December 2019, the former House Majority Leader was taken to the hospital and admitted to the ICU with a severe case of pancreatitis.Just last month, Carney was able to go home. But, according to his family, he returned to the hospital days later with pneumonia.Kentucky Auditor Mike Harmon released a statement on Twitter, offering his condolences.Carney represented District 51, which includes Adair and Taylor counties. He served in the legislature since 2009.
