Cincinnati Comic Expo: Famous faces and what to know in 2021
The Cincinnati Comic Expo is back in 2021. Thousands of people are expected downtown Cincinnati this weekend for the expo, which was forced to postpone in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. But it’s back at Cincinnati’s Duke Energy Convention Center Sept. 17-19, celebrating all periods and genres of pop culture, with an emphasis on comics. Masks are required for all guests in 2021, organizers said. One of the largest and significant draws for the fans is the celebrities and media guests from TV and film who come to Cincinnati. Notable guests this year include: Katie Cassidy: "Arrow," "Black Christmas," "Click"; and daughter of the late David CassidyTom Cavanagh: "The Flash," Yogi Bear" and EdDavid Acord: "The Mandalorian"Ross Marquand: The Walking Dead, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: EndgameAlan Oppenheimer: "He-Man and Masters of the Universe," "Transformers" and over 300 other creditsJohn Barrowman: "Arrow," "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood"Jodi Benson: Voice of Ariel in "Disney's The Little Mermaid"Sean Schemmel: "Dragon Ball Z"They will be among about 20 total celebrities and voice actors with numerous credits to their names from beloved films, shows and fandoms. Talented and well-known creators from around the country will be in attendance, starting with former Marvel Comics editor Jim Shooter. Published mainstream artists Brett Breeding and Arthur Suydam are also making their first visits to the area by attending the Cincinnati Comic Expo and meeting their fans. Several authors and artists are also returning with the likes of Timothy Zahn, Mike Zeck, Michael Golden, and others. Most vendors are local, but the Expo gives an opportunity for those not from around here to showcase their wares to the Greater Cincinnati crowd. Items ranging from shirts and clothing to mugs and glasses, collectible comic books to handcrafter jewelry, and toys and games to displays and props that fans can have their photos taken with.
