Gov. Andy Beshear has been tapped to lead a national task force on economic recovery in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Governors Association announced Wednesday that Beshear will co-chair a new Economic Recovery and Revitalization task force alongside Republican Gov. Henry McMaster of South Carolina.

They'll tackle issues such as infrastructure, taxes, energy and environment as part of the initiative, according to a news release from the organization.

"I am deeply honored and humbled to be asked by the NGA to work on this crucially important issue," Beshear said in a statement. "This global health crisis has upended economies the world over, and there isn’t a state or territory in the United States that has been spared from its devastating impacts.
