The Reds trail the Padres by 1 game in the wild-card standings

The Cincinnati Reds trail the San Diego Padres by one game in the National League wild-card standings with Monday's 4-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The Reds have 23 games remaining in the 2021 Major League Baseball season, while the Padres - who were off Monday - have 25.

The Reds are 73-66 entering Tuesday's second game of a three-game series against the Cubs. The Padres are 73-64 as they start a two-game series against the Angels in San Diego.

The Philadelphia Phillies trail the Padres by 2 games after a 12-0 win Monday against the Brewers in Milwaukee. The St. Louis Cardinals trail the Padres by 3 1/2 games after their 5-1 loss Monday at home to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
