Will the Cincinnati Reds sign one of the top free-agent shortstops of this offseason? They're running out of options.
Marcus Semien and Andrelton Simmons are no longer available after Semien signed Tuesday with the Toronto Blue Jays and Simmons signed with the Minnesota Twins.
Didi Gregorius, who made his big-league debut with the Reds in 2012, remains unsigned. Gregorius, who turns 31 next month, hit .284 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs with an OPS of .827 last season for the Phillies after spending the previous five seasons with the New York Yankees.
Social media reactions to Tuesday's free-agent shortstop activity:
Freddy Galvis, who hit .220 with seven homers and 16 RBIs with an OPS of .712 in 2020 for the Reds, signed with the Baltimore Orioles.
