Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid indicated that not every National Football League team with a head coaching vacancy this offseason interviewed or requested an interview with offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
The Philadelphia Eagles - per a tweet Wednesday from ESPN's Field Yates - did not formally request a Bieniemy interview, according to Reid, who was the Eagles' head coach from 1999 to 2012.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo was among those reporting last month that the Eagles had requested permission to interview the former Cincinnati Bengals running back and kick returner.
Late last month, the Eagles hired Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their new head coach.
Reid said Tuesday that he'll "be curious to hear" specifics from NFL teams that interviewed Bieniemy about why he wasn't hired. Reid, Bieniemy and the Chiefs are looking to repeat Sunday as Super Bowl champions.
Bieniemy played for the Bengals from 1995 to 1998. He became the Chiefs' offensive coordinator in Jan. 2018 after coaching the team's running backs for five seasons.
He has said he would like to be an NFL head coach.
"At the end of the day, the only thing that you want to do is be recognized for all the things that you have accomplished," he told reporters Tuesday.
