Reds move into tie with Padres in Wild Card race

The Cincinnati Reds' 5-3 win Friday night against the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park coupled with the San Diego Padres' 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Petco Park left the two teams with identical 67-57 records, tied for the second National League Wild Card with 38 games remaining in the 2021 Major League Baseball season.

It was the Padres' fourth consecutive loss, and eighth loss in nine games. The Reds' 5-3 win was their sixth in nine games.
