Jerry Narron joins Chicago White Sox coaching staff, per report

Former Cincinnati Reds manager Jerry Narron joined the Chicago White Sox coaching staff and is expected to work with the team's catchers, according to a report Friday via Twitter from The Athletic's James Fegan.

Narron was the Reds' bench coach in 2004 and 2005, and the team's manager from June 2005 to July 2007. His record as the Reds' manager was 157-179.

Bench coach Jerry Narron is among those who will not return with the Red Sox in 2021.

Narron was the bench coach for the Boston Red Sox last season. After the season, he did not have his contract renewed.

Narron managed the Texas Rangers in 2001 and 2002. He's also coached for the Baltimore Orioles, the Rangers, the Boston Red Sox, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

When Narron was the Reds' manager, he hired his brother, Johnny, to be star outfielder Josh Hamilton's "accountability partner." Johnny also accompanied Hamilton with the Texas Rangers.
