Four officers injured responding to robbery at Albuquerque coffee shop


Police in New Mexico say four officers were injured, including three who were shot, on Thursday morning in the northeast part of Albuquerque.Of the four injured, one is in critical condition and another is in surgery. Police say the officers were responding to the robbery early Thursday morning at Dutch Bros Coffee on Juan Tabo Boulevard near Constitution Avenue when "things went bad."APD Chief Harold Medina say the officer that is listed in critical condition was shot in the chest above his vest. One officer was shot in the arm and is in surgery. One officer was shot but the bullet hit his vest, Medina says that vest saved his life. The last officer was injured by glass or shrapnel.Police say several potential suspects have been detained, one suspect was injured on the scene and they are actively searching for another suspect. That suspect is described as a man in his 20s wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.Anyone with information on that suspect or that was in the area at the time of the shooting and has video or photos is urged to contact APD.Police say the scene is still very active and are asking drivers to avoid the area.Several nearby schools are under a shelter-in-place order, including Manzano High School, Kennedy, Jackson, Tomasita and McCollum.
