Shin-Soo Choo told reporters Thursday at a South Korean airport that he'll play anywhere for his new Korea Baseball Organization team, according to a report by Jee-ho Yoo.
Choo, 38, signed a one-year deal worth 2.7 billion won ($2.4 million in U.S. dollars) with the SK Wyverns, a club soon to be renamed after recently being sold to Shinsegae Group, according to Yoo.
Choo's 2013 season for the Cincinnati Reds was among the best of his 16 in Major League Baseball. Choo hit .285 with 21 home runs and an OPS of .885. He had career-bests with 107 runs and 112 walks, stole 20 bases and led the league with 26 hit-by-pitches. He finished 12th in National League Most Valuable Player voting and helped the Reds to a Wild Card meeting with the Pittsburgh Pirates that Cincinnati lost.
It also was Choo's only season in the NL.
Choo came to Cincinnati as part of a three-team trade in Dec. 2012 that sent Didi Gregorius to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Drew Stubbs to the Cleveland Indians and Trevor Bauer, Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw from the D'backs to Cleveland. Choo became a free agent after the 2013 season and signed with the Texas Rangers, where he played from 2014 through last season.
Over 16 MLB seasons, Choo hit .275 with 218 homers, 1,671 hits and 157 stolen bases, with an OPS of .824. He debuted with the Seattle Mariners in 2005 and also played seven seasons in Cleveland.
