NEW YORK –– After Cincinnati Reds rookie second baseman Jonathan India moved to the leadoff spot in the Reds batting order in early June, he became known for his ability to get on base.

He’s one of five qualifying MLB players with an on-base percentage above .400 this season, and India has often been the runner in scoring position for Reds hitters like Jesse Winker, Nick Castellanos and Joey Votto to drive in.

But there’s a reason that when Reds manager David Bell has been asked about India’s future role in the lineup, Bell hasn’t committed to keeping India in the lineup spot forever. Over his first 100 MLB games, India is tapping into his potential as a power hitter.
