Joe Smith has seen a lot during his 14 seasons as a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball.
But the former Amelia High School standout has never pitched against a team that traded him - on the same day of the trade
Smith was acquired Tuesday by the Seattle Mariners along with infielder Abraham Toro from the Houston Astros for relievers Kendall Graveman and Rafael Montero.
Smith appeared in a game Monday for Houston against Seattle. On Tuesday, he pitched for the Mariners against the Astros.

Smith, who leads all active MLB pitchers with 810 career appearances, also has pitched for the New York Mets, Cleveland (twice), Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays. He made 111 appearances over three seasons for Houston.
Smith is one of 11 players currently on MLB rosters from Greater Cincinnati high schools and/or former UC Bearcats, Miami RedHawks or Xavier Musketeers.
