Gov. DeWine offering $100 financial incentive for state employees who get COVID-19 vaccine
ABOUT MANDATING VACCINES IS INCREASING. AS MAJOR EMPLOYERS SUCH AS PROCTER AND GAMBLE AND FIFTH THIRD BANK REPOPULATE THEIR DOWNTOWN OFFICES THEY’RE , STICKING WITH RECOMMENDAONTI INSTEAD OF REQUIREMENT WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING THE SHOT. PRIVATELY HOWEVER, MANY LEAN IN THE DIRECTION OF REQUIRING. BUT SINCE LOCAL HOSPITALS ARE NOT MANDATING IT YET, BUNESISS IS RELUCTANT TO RUSH AHEAD. >> WE HAD A VERY DIFFENTRE PICTURE THREE, FOUR WEEKS AGO THAN WE HAVE RIGHT NOW. AND SO, I DO THINK THE BUSINESSES ARE STARTING TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. BUT THE HOSPITALS ARE LIKELY TO MO FVEASTER THAN SOME OFHE T BUSINESSES WILL AND I THINK WILL BE LEADERS. JOHN: THE HEALTH COLLABORATIVE SAYS 200 HOSPITALS NATIOIDNWE ARE REQUIRING STAFF TO GET THE COVID VACCINE. A SPOKESWOMAN FOR UC HEALTH TELLS US AT THIS TIME, THE COVID-19 VACCINE IS NOT MANDATORY FOR EMPLOYEES. BUT THERE’S STRONG ENCOURAGENTME AND MOST ARE VACCINAD.TE BUSINESS IS PROCEEDING CAUTIOUSLY, NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF POTENTIAL LITIGATION BUT OTHER FACTORS SUCH AS PROOF, NATURAL IMMUNITY, EXEMPTIONS. >>T' ’S NOT CLEAR THAT BUSINESSES EVEN WANT TO ADDRESS THOSE QUESTIONS OR NECESSARILY HAVE THE CAPABILITIES .TO AND SO, I THINK THERE’S AGAIN REAL HESITCYAN, REAL CAUTION BEFORE EVEN DIPPING YOUR TOE IN THE WATER. JOHN: BUT NOW THAT THE VA HAS PLUNGED AHEAD WITH BOTH FEET AND THE WHITE HOUSE IS SETO T REQUIRE CCVAINE FOR FEDERAL WORKERS, THE LOCAL HEALTH COMMISSIONER EYES THE FDA’S MID-SEPTEMBER DECISION ABOUT THE VACCES.IN >> I AM 100% CERTAIN THAT WE WILL SEE ALL OF OUR HOSPITAL SYSTEMS AND CLINICAL SYSTEMS REQUIRE COVID VACCINE BECAUSE WE KNOW IT’S SAFE AND EFFECTIVE AND IT REDUCES RISK TO THE EMPLOYER. JO: HN IT’S A RAPIDLY CHANGING ATMOSPHERE AT MID-SUMMER. COMPANIES FINDING OUT THIS WKEE THEYAN C MAKE VACCINATION A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT, AND SINC LEAST WEEK, VACCINATIONS ARE UP 35% HINAMILTON COUNTY AND 45% IN THE REGION. THAT IS THE BIGGEST JUMP SINCE REPORTING LIVE, JOHN LONDON, MA
