Creighton University announced that head coach Greg McDermott has been suspended from all team activities, including the Bluejays' regular-season finale Saturday against Butler.

McDermott's reaction to the statement Thursday night from director of athletics Bruce Rasmussen:
McDermott apologized with a tweet earlier this week for what he called "a terribly inappropriate analogy" in which he encouraged his players after last week's 77-69 loss to Xavier to "stay on the plantation":
Bluejays assistant Terrence Rencher addressed McDermott's remark with this statement via Twitter:
McDermott, who has been Creighton's head coach since 2010, said Wednesday during a pregame radio show that he offered to resign over his remarks, but his players wanted him to remain with the team.
