When Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto scored the game-tying run Friday night on a wild pitch by St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley, Votto didn't slide into home. But there was a moment that he stood over Helsley that was reminiscent of teammate Nick Castellanos standing over Cards pitcher Jake Woodford after scoring on a wild pitch earlier this season at Great American Ball Park, which sparked a brawl between the teams that resulted in Castellanos' two-game suspension in April.
Castellanos flexed; Votto didn't. But as the Reds noted via Twitter and The Enquirer's Bobby Nightengale noted via Twitter and in his game story about the Reds' 6-5 win, Votto and Castellanos appeared to joke about the coincidence in the Reds' dugout shortly after Votto scored:
From Nightengale:
Votto resisted the chance to flex and shout over a Cardinals pitcher on the ground as teammate Nick Castellanos did in a famous moment earlier this season, seemingly pointing that out to Castellanos in the dugout.
Woodford is the Cardinals' scheduled starter Saturday night at GABP.
