The Cincinnati Reds will likely be without injured All-Star Nick Castellanos for longer than they expected.
A CT scan showed a microfracture in Castellanos' wrist on Wednesday, he said. The Reds have an off day Thursday before beginning a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend at Great American Ball Park.
"I got a CT scan today," Castellanos said Wednesday night in an interview with Jomboy Media's Chris Rose. "I have a microfracture in my wrist that I'm dealing with. Yeah, so I have to rest it. I'm going to take a couple of days to see where I'm at."

Castellanos was hit by a pitch on his right wrist in the third inning Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He remained in the game on the basepaths, scoring a run, but did not return to the field and was sidelined for the rest of the weekend.
He entered in a double switch in the 11th inning Monday during the Reds' 15-11 loss to the New York Mets. He flew out to the warning track in right field on a one-handed swing in his lone at-bat.

He did not play Tuesday or Wednesday. Rose asked Castellanos whether he could swing a bat Wednesday.
"No," Castellanos said. "I'm probably 50%. I was trying for a couple of days just to play through it and, really, honestly, see where I was at. But I was maybe 50%."
The initial X-ray after Friday's hit by pitch showed no fractures, which is why the Reds didn't place Castellanos on the 10-day injured list. The Reds have three position players on the 40-man roster who are healthy and playing in the minor leagues: shortstop Jose Barrero, infielder Alejo Lopez and infielder Max Schrock.
Center fielder Nick Senzel is expected to begin a rehab assignment next week.
"If anybody can pop my wrist off and just pop it back in, I think it'd feel better," Castellanos said.
The Reds have a 1-5 record since the All-Star break and sit 6 ½ games behind the Brewers in the National League Central standings. Aristides Aquino and Shogo Akiyama have received starts in the outfield with Castellanos sidelined.
