Cincinnati will have a moment in the national spotlight Wednesday as President Joe Biden visits to host a town hall with CNN.
This trip will be Biden's first to Cincinnati and his third trip to Ohio since taking office.
Not sure what to expect? Here's everything we know.
When will Biden arrive?
The president is scheduled to land on Air Force One at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. From there, he’ll travel to Cincinnati to visit a local union training center, then to the town hall that evening. It’s unclear if Biden and the presidential motorcade will use the Brent Spence Bridge to cross the river.
When Vice President Kamala Harris visited Cincinnati in April, she did not use the bridge to cross the Ohio River.
After the town hall, Biden will depart from CVG around 9:55 p.m.
More:Biden lost Ohio. So why does he keep coming here? Well, there's that one bridge...
Where will he visit?
According to Biden’s public schedule released by the White House, he will visit a local union training center before heading to the town hall at Mount St. Joseph University. Details for the location and time at the union training center have not been made public.
We're hoping he stops somewhere local for ice cream, too.
Where is the town hall?
The town hall, moderated by CNN anchor Don Lemon, will be held at Mount St. Joseph University, a private Catholic college in Delhi Township, just west of Cincinnati. It will be broadcast nationally at 8 p.m. and will cover a range of topics, including COVID-19 and the economy.
The location was officially confirmed Tuesday, and has gathered disapproval from some local Catholics and anti-abortion groups.
Biden, a Democrat and Catholic who often speaks of his faith, has drawn criticism from conservative Catholics and Catholic leaders for his support of abortion access and same-sex marriage.
Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati, which opposes abortion, said the university is hosting the "most pro-abortion president in U.S. history" and asked the public to call the university in protest along with Cincinnati Archbishop Dennis Schnurr.
As Mount St. Joseph confirmed Biden’s visit Tuesday, the university said in a statement it is “capable and willing to host such an important event.”
“The University has always been and will continue to be a diverse and inclusive place where people from different races, ethnicities, social backgrounds, beliefs and religions can come together to discuss and share their unique perspectives,” the statement reads. “We look forward to introducing the Mount to a nationally televised prime time audience.”
What to expect with traffic
Details of Biden’s route to the training schedule and town hall have not been made public, but it’s safe to assume that between his visit, the 8 p.m. FC Cincinnati game at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati's West End neighborhood and other, regular traffic, roads will be pretty backed up.
Cincinnati Police said they encourage the public to monitor traffic reports between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday.
