Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jon Kitna spoke about his time with the team during the Ryen Russillo Podcast on Tuesday, and said there was a time he played with a receiver he suspected was drunk in the huddle during a game.
Kitna did not name the teammate during the podcast episode.
The clip, from @TracyMcBradey via Twitter:
"There were some things that were hard to believe (with the Bengals). There was a time that I played a game with a guy that was drunk in the huddle," Kitna said. "There was a time that a guy showed up late to a game. In the NFL, you need to be there two hours, two hours and 15 minutes ahead of time. And he showed up under an hour before the game's start. Those are weird things, now. That's tough. I'm not sure if the staff knew. But I think the guy was like - that was kind of his normal. I mean he was drunk and had close to 200 yards receiving now. So, it was crazy."
The reaction from former Bengals offensive lineman Willie Anderson:
Last May, Kitna's son, Jalen, a quarterback at Burleson High School near Fort Worth, Texas, committed to the Florida Gators. Kitna, 48, is Burleson's head coach.
In 2017, former Bengals QB Carson Palmer called Kitna "probably the most instrumental individual in my career."
