READING — Mount Notre Dame High School will cheer on 2013 MND graduate and 2020 Olympic Team USA member Rose Lavelle by hosting a viewing party of Team USA’s first Olympic soccer game vs. Sweden on Wednesday, July 21.
MND students will have a sleep-in party the night before the game starting Tuesday at 10 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The game will be shown live in the new Performing Arts Center at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and broadcast on the USA Network.
Lavelle was a four-year varsity performer at MND from 2009-2013, earning Girls Greater Catholic League First Team Honors during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was also named All-State as a junior and was The Enquirer Player of the Year her senior season.
She went on to star at the University of Wisconsin, earning numerous Big Ten awards during her career and was the number one overall draft pick in the 2017 NWSL Draft by the Boston Breakers. She also was a member of the Team USA World Cup Champions in 2019.
This will be Lavelle's first Olympics.
