CBS Sports' Kyle Boone has former Moeller High School standout Miles "Deuce" McBride, a point guard who played for Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers, going 17th overall in the first round of his latest mock draft - 11 spots earlier than USA TODAY Sports' Scott Gleeson predicted earlier this week.
Boone has McBride going to the Memphis Grizzlies at No. 17. Gleeson has McBride going 28th to the Philadelphia 76ers.
From Boone:
Miles McBride was one of the winners of the last month. Competed hard at the combine, measured well and looks like he can be a real defensive monster in the NBA like he was at West Virginia. He's a hard-working winner -- the exact type of player Memphis' front office has targeted in the draft.
The 2021 NBA Draft will take place at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on July 29.
McBride tweeted Thursday night that he was honored to meet former WVU great and Hall of Famer Jerry West:
At Moeller, McBride helped the Crusaders to a 29-0 record and Div. I state championship as a senior.
His father, Walt, was a basketball standout at Xavier University, and his mother, Kim, played tennis at Ohio State.
