America's war in Afghanistan is ending with a whimper. After 20 years, the deaths of 2,442 U.S. troops and more than 47,000 Afghan deaths, America's longest war is winding down. The U.S. has spent $2.26 trillion over the past two decades on an invasion and occupation of the Central Asian country that was launched by former President George W. Bush.
Afghans will now be left to deal with the consequences of the U.S. invasion as cartoonist Mike Thompson notes, above.
