A man has now been charged in connection to a Tuesday morning fire in Cincinnati’s Roselawn neighborhood that left one person dead and displaced 24 families.According to an affidavit, William Koch, 57, was arrested on murder and aggravated arson charges in connection to an early morning fire at an apartment complex.It happened around 4:30 a.m. on Sparkle Drive. On arrival, crews found a fire in the third floor of a three-story apartment building.Multiple victims were rescued from the building, with two being transported to the hospital, fire officials said. One of those victims, identified as 56-year-old Edward Jones, was later pronounced dead. According to an affidavit, Koch used charcoal lighter fluid and a cigarette lighter to set fire to a couch that was in a common hallway on the third floor. Officials with the American Red Cross said they are assisting 24 families who were displaced by the fire. Because of COVID-19 safety precautions, the families will be put up in hotel rooms, rather than a congregate sheltering situation. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes. Damage is estimated at $30,000.
