A 16-year-old shot Monday in Avondale has died, Cincinnati police announced Thursday morning.
Police have identified him as Galevon Beauchamp. He died from his injuries on June 24 at Children's Hospital.
This announcement comes after officials said Wednesday night that the teen was still on life-support.
He had been on life-support since he was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, said Emily Szink, a Cincinnati Police Department spokesperson.
No arrests have been made, and there is no other information available at this time, she said.
The shooting happened in the 3500 block of Reading Road outside a retail store around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
A memorial has been created near where the shooting happened.
Prior to Monday, there had been 16 people shot in Avondale this year. Three of those victims died. During the same period last year, there were a total of 26 people shot in the neighborhood and eight of those were fatal shootings.
Cincinnati officers were out on the streets in Avondale on Tuesday to talk about a recent spike in violence in the neighborhood, according to a Cincinnati police Twitter post.
A Cincinnati police video shows officers telling people there was a shooting Monday evening.
Lt. Jonathan Cunningham, of District 4 violent crime squad, showed where a fence was put up in an attempt to deter shootings at Burnet and Rockdale avenues.
Cunningham said in the video that work has begun to canvas the fence with art so that it is more than just a fence.
