The Cincinnati Bearcats responded to Alabama's touchdown early in the first quarter of Friday's Cotton Bowl - the College Football Playoff semifinal between the two teams at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas - with Cole Smith's 33-yard field goal at the end of a 13-play, 60-yard drive.

UC put points on the board, but didn't get the touchdown the Bearcats had hoped for after positioning themselves with a 1st-and-goal at the Crimson Tide's 9-yard line.

Alabama led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, and 17-3 at half
