Western Carolina head coach Mark Prosser, the son of former Xavier Musketeers head coach Skip Prosser, is replacing former Elder High School standout and Xavier player and assistant coach Pat Kelsey as the Winthrop Eagles' new head coach, according to an announcement Friday via Twitter from @WUEagles :
Kelsey left Winthrop last week to become the head coach of the Charleston Cougars.
Mark Prosser left his position as Winthrop men's basketball associate head coach in March 2018 to become a first-time Division I head coach at WCU.
Skip Prosser was Xavier's head basketball coach from 1994 to 2001. He was the head coach at Wake Forest from 2001 until his death in 2007.
Mark Prosser was a head coach at Division II Brevard College for one year before Kelsey (who played for Skip at XU and was later on Skip's staff - along with former Musketeers and current Louisville head coach Chris Mack - at Wake Forest before Kelsey was Mack's assistant at Xavier) hired Prosser as an assistant at Winthrop.
