Severe weather coming Friday, prepare for damaging winds, excessive rain

While Thursday will be another clear, warm day, Friday could bring some problems. 

The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency has issued an Air Quality Advisory for Greater Cincinnati until midnight Thursday.

The agency said it expects to see levels of ozone in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" range on the Air Quality Index.

The National Weather Service said severe weather will be possible late Friday afternoon into Friday night.

To start with, heat indices Friday afternoon will be in the mid- to upper 90s.

Then, storms will roll into the area. Damaging wind will be the primary threat but isolated large hail is also be possible.

"Thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall late Friday afternoon and Friday night, leading to the potential for some flooding concerns," forecasters said. 

The threat for severe storms and flash flooding is increasing for Friday afternoon and evening.

Expect storms to stick around.

"A few strong to severe storms will be possible again Saturday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind would be the primary threat on Saturday," the National Weather Service said. 

Greater Cincinnati is under a slight risk for severe weather and under a slight risk for excessive rainfall through Saturday. Areas to the north, including Dayton and Columbus, are under an enhanced risk for severe weather.
