UAB signs men’s basketball head coach Andy Kennedy to six-year deal

Andy Kennedy, a Cincinnati Bearcats assistant coach from 2001 to 2005 who also bridged the gap as head coach between Bob Huggins and Mick Cronin, signed a new six-year deal to remain head coach of the UAB Blazers through the 2026-27 season, the school announced Friday.

Andy Kennedy, UAB's second all-time leading scorer, has been named to succeed Rob Ehsan as coach at his alma mater. Kennedy spent 12 seasons at Ole Miss and is the winningest coach in the history of the SEC program.

The Blazers finished the 2020-21 season with a 22-7 record overall, 13-5 in Conference USA.
