Sonny Gray placed on 10-day IL. What it means for the Reds rotation.

After Sonny Gray felt pain in his groin following a warmup pitch Tuesday, one of the thoughts that ran through his head was making sure it didn't become a long-term injury.

Gray was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain Wednesday, but he may have been successful in preventing an injury that would cost him months instead of weeks.

"No exact timetable," Reds manager David Bell said Wednesday afternoon. "I think the best guess is missing two starts. The severity, obviously, could be a lot worse. To me, that was a best-case scenario.

"I knew when he came out of the game based on how he was feeling after the game that it was at least going to be two starts. The fact that might end up being the case is really good news."
