The Cincinnati Zoo has announced the birth of two rockhopper penguin chicks. Two little chicks were born last week to first-time parents Webster, who wears a pink band, and Baco, who ears a brown band. Both have their feathers full caring for their news chicks around the clock. The sexes and names of the chicks are unknown. Lucky guests might be able to catch a glimpse of them now in Wings of the World, zoo officials said, but the chicks will be more visible when they are 2-3 months old, especially as they start to venture off the nest.The rockhopper penguin is named for its ability to hop from rock to rock in order to scale a cliff to a safe breeding site. Once a pair has established a territory, the male and female will aggressively defend it from intruders, including other penguins and predators such as birds of prey and rats.
