ST. LOUIS – As the Cincinnati Reds raced to a seven-run lead in the third inning Sunday, they had one piece of bad news.
Center fielder Tyler Naquin left their game against the St. Louis Cardinals because of left hamstring tightness. He was replaced in the third inning when Shogo Akiyama pinch-hit for him.
"A little precautionary," Reds manager David Bell said after the Reds' 8-7 win to complete their four-game sweep against St. Louis. "With the off-day (Monday), hopefully, we get him back full strength on Tuesday."
Naquin hit a double to left field in his first at-bat. He was thrown out at second base to end the inning when he thought about advancing to third during a rundown. He took a bit of an awkward slide as he tried to retreat to second base, ending up short of the bag.

Naquin fielded one ball in center field in the bottom of the first inning, a line drive that dropped in front of him for a single.
The Reds already have three regular starters on the 10-day injured list: Joey Votto, Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel.
Votto could return as early as Tuesday. Outfielder Aristides Aquino is in the middle of a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville and is eligible to return to the big-league roster on June 13.
