Free-agent defensive tackle Geno Atkins, an eight-time Pro Bowler who spent his first 11 National Football League seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, is expected to meet with the Dallas Cowboys' team doctor who operated on Atkins - with several NFL teams interested - according to a report Friday via Twitter from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport added that Atkins is expected to be cleared from a torn rotator cuff by July 1:
The Bengals released Atkins in March, saving $9.5 million in salary cap.
Atkins finished an injury-plagued 2020 season with just one tackle, three pressures and one quarterback hit in eight games. He had suffered a shoulder injury during training camp before the season started.
Atkins started 134 of his 161 games as a Bengal, recording 75.5 sacks - most in franchise history by an interior lineman - and 172 quarterback hits.
