Deputy shoots, injures man who was armed with knife in Clermont County


Authorities have now identified a man shot by a Clermont County deputy Wednesday night.It happened around 10:29 p.m. in the 2700 block of State Route 132.Authorities say they responded to the scene following reports of a domestic situation involving two adult brothers.One of the brothers was reported to be armed with a knife, said to have fled the scene on foot.A 911 caller described that knife-wielding man to police.About 10 minutes later, a deputy on the scene said he found a man with a knife at the entrance of Richmond Estates mobile home park.Authorities say the deputy got out of his patrol vehicle and said he gave the man several commands, asking him to put down the knife.But the man continued to approach the deputy with the knife, officials on scene say.That's when the deputy fired his weapon, striking the man.Officials have identified the man shot as 31-year-old Christopher Lee Simpson. Simpson was taken to University Hospital by AirCare and is in stable condition.No deputies were injured during the incident.Simpson faces several charges, including felonious assault, aggravated menacing and two counts of domestic assault.The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was requested by the sheriff’s office to investigate the incident.
