The deadline for the second week of Ohio's "Vax-A-Million" drawing is quickly approaching.The vaccine incentive prizes are for Ohio residents who are fully or partially vaccinated by the deadline. People must sign up by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.The one million dollar prize will be awarded to an adult. A students ages 12-17 will be awarded a full-ride scholarship to an Ohio school. The drawings take place on Mondays and are announced on Wednesdays.The first millionaire winner is Abbigail Bugenske. The first scholarship winner is Englewood teen Joseph Costello.Bugenske lives in Silverton. Now neighbors hope lighting strikes twice.Officials with the Ohio Department of Health said the contests are working to boost vaccine numbers.ODH reported a weekly average increase of 77%. Owner Kyle Butz said Bugenske bought ice cream from his family's store just days before she received the life-changing phone call."It’s definitely one of those things like, wow, I’ve seen her around,” Butz said.Customer Teri Lacey didn't sugarcoat why she registered in hopes of being the second-round winner."Because I could win a million dollars," Lacey said while holding her chocolate shake."I would travel some. I would find some charities that were worthwhile."Carmen Kerley came to the shop to buy a birthday blue ice cream cone. She shared her birthday wish if her name was drawn.“I’m going to grad school in the fall and I could really use that money to help pay for it,” Kerley said.This weekend, Dougie Zang graduated from Indian Hill High School. He said he would use his winnings to pay for his college tuition, buy a house and give back to his family."This ice cream feels lucky. I feel lucky," Zang said holding his cone.
