At the Lindner Family Tennis Center Saturday, Cincinnati high school boys tennis players experienced the roller-coaster ride of plunging temperatures amid the literal roller coaster at Kings Island that is visible from the courts they were competing on.
Local players rode through many ups and downs of momentum and emotion but ultimately fell short of state championships during Ohio High School Athletic Association state tennis finals at Mason’s professional tennis complex.
After playing indoors Friday at two of Cincinnati’s top tennis clubs, the action returned to the pro complex Saturday, with boisterous fans cheering between points.

“The environment in high school matches, you don’t get that experience anywhere else,” Mason junior Akshay Joshi said. “I really love the environment.”
